from indiana. it's a close race, one that the republicans are counting on to help them take control of the senate. here is what he said in the final minutes of his debate tonight when talking about abortion. >> i know there are some that disagree and i respect their point of view, but i believe that life begins at conception, the only exception i have for abortion is in the case of risk of the life from the mother. i think even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that god intended to happen. >> richard murdock's comments at a debate start on the same day that mitt romney started airing this tv ad endorsing murdock. >> this fall i'm supporting richard murdock for the senate. >> reporter: but tonight the romney camp issued a statement saying that romney disagrees

with murdock's views on rape. this is the second candidate to make controversial comments about rape and pregnancy this campaign season. missouri's todd aiken faced a stream of criticism, but refused to with draw from the race. -- to withdraw from the race. >> this candidate murdock, is he a political newcomer? >> not at all. he has been part of politics since the 1980s. this is his second term as treasurer. he has also served several different local and state

giants dugout. >> that's a pretty good seat. >> four grand, i don't know. >> i think at that price, i'll stay in front of the tv. >> there you go. this is not the giants fans first rodeo, 2010, they won the whole thing. do you think the feel is any different this year compared to 2010? >> i get the feeling that this was such a shock that they won yesterday, even though everybody was rooting for it, day didn't have time to prepare. so right now it seems quiet, but wait until tomorrow, i think everything is going to shift. >> yeah, everyone will be wearing or an and black. thanks so much, linda. the owners of graphics sports ware in san francisco said the presses are normally stopped this time of year, but the giants win changed all of that. and after the soggy celebration last night, ground crews at at&t park had their work cut out for them today.

workers spent the day drying the field out in preparation for tomorrow night's game. late effort word is that the field -- latest word that is the field is dry and ready to go. but what can we expect from the weather for game one? >> such an important question after the 8th and 9th inning last night, and i'm happy to report that rainfall is on the way. why is that a good thing? because it is getting here quicker, it will get out of here quicker. northern of san francisco, picking up a line of showers, almost to moran county. it's getting here earlier than we first forecast. so that means it will get out earlier. i think the showers will be completely finished in time for that first pitch tomorrow evening. we'll get some sunshine, 62 degrees. the rainfall we got yesterday in downtown san francisco, more rain than we've seen in the previous 191 days combined. full forecast in a few minutes. >> thanks so much, paul. and much more coming up on the giants, including a look at

tomorrow's pitching match-up. dennis will come along a little later in the news cast. new tonight, a videotape out of oakland shows what some call excessive force by sheriff's deputies, but the department says it was self- defense. we look at what the videotape has to say. >> there was a lot of yelling, a lot of commotion. >> reporter: one video of a violent arrest, two different stories. >> i feel they made a good judgment call. >> went over there and started beating him up, no questions asked. >> reporter: this man, who calls himself ron, did not want to show his face on television. he shot video of the arrest this morning. authorities say a pregnant woman got into a verbal altercation with employees at the center. >> she was asked to leave and referred to do so. >> reporter: her boyfriend steps in to defend her, but as he walks to the deputies, see

what happens. a deputy appears to run in and hold a batten at the man's neck. as the man goes down, deputies appear to knee him repeatedly. >> they kept hitting him. and he was put in handcuffs. he was handcuffed on the floor, and they start kneeing him again and punching him on his head. >> you're only seeing a small snapshot of the whole thing. >> reporter: the sheriff's spokesman claims the man was resisting arrest, even threatening deputy at one point. he said all deputies could do was respond from force. >> i saw what looked to be a punch from the deputy, is that is in policy. >> reporter: oakland seems to have a policy where they will swing first, question later. a smoldering crash site, and now we are learning that there are two victims. what witnesses heard just before the crash. >> what authorities are saying about a deadly shark attack on the california coast.

contra costa county: a secod body has b wreckage. new details in the fiery plane crash out of contra costa county. a second body has been found in the wreckage. small plane came down north neat of the byron airport. the witnesses say they heard the engine of the plane sputter before it crashed in a farm field at about 2:00 this afternoon. wreckage was smile smoldering an hour later. names of the two have not been

identified. faa is investigating the cause of the crash. a central coast man is dead after being attacked by a shark. it happened at surf beach near and haven burg air force base in santa barbara county this morning. francisco solario was surfing with a a friend who saw the attack. the friend drug him to the beach and tried to save his life, but was unsuccessful. no signs are posted warning of shark attacks, but officials say that surfers know of the danger. >> i think it's pretty well known locally, like you said, that there are sharks, and we've had sharks up and down the santa barbara coastline pretty frequently recently. >> there are about 65 shark attacks every year around the world. in july, a man escaped injury near santa cruz after being thrown from his kayak when a shark bit through his boat.

well, investigators say they could actually see with their naked eyes black specks of fungus floating in vials of steroids prepared by the new england compounding center. that's the place that is said to be the source of the meningitis outbreak in 17 states. 300 people are sick tonight. 23 have died. health officials say the outbreak is spreading. >> reporter: the preliminary investigation has revealed a lack of basic laboratory standards at new england compounding center. today massachusetts state investigators found that necc had dirty floor mats on a leaky boiler, did not properly test lab equipment, did not adequately sterilize medications, and shipped drugs before they were tested for contamination. the doctor lead it will the investigation for the department of health spoke. >> on 13 occasions, necc staff shipped orders from the suspect

lots before receiving their own test results confirming that those lots were sterile. >> reporter: officials also claim the company broke state law by shipping their products in bulk without precipitations. -- without prescriptions. more than 17,000 vials of the suspect steroid went to clinics in 23 states. documents released yesterday show that complaints against necc for lack of individual prescriptions date back to 1999. the co-owner barry cadon said in 2004 that his company would abide by the law, quote: the state and the fda made a joint inspection of the facility in 2004. sheldon brad shoe was the fda's chief counsel. >> tippic him the fda would go back in and reinspect, but here

in game one of the world series at at&t park is a little under 19 hours away, and the first game features a pitching match-up with one obvious choice and one surprise. barry zito will start for san francisco tomorrow night. a few days ago, it would have been hard to believe that he would have started a world series game for the giants, but he got the call, after his 7 and 2/3 shutout innings in game 5 of the nlcs. this comes just two years after
